Phase 1 Geo-Environmental Desk Study

through the review of a sites history, geology and environmental factors, our desk studies provide a preliminary assessment of ground and environmental risks to future development, in line with current planning regulations.

Phase II Geo-Environmental Site Investigation

A site investigation involves on-site testing, sampling, and analysis to confirm ground conditions and assess potential contamination risks identified in the phase I desk study. Through detailed interpretation and risk assessment we evaluate environmental hazards, inform remediation needs, and support safe site development or land use decisions.

Brownfield and Contaminated Land assessment

We undertake comprehensive geo-environmental risk assessments encompassing human health risk evaluation, controlled waters (surface and groundwater) risk assessment, and ground/mine gas assessments. Our services also include assessment of potential impacts on the built environment, such as degradation of buried concrete, risks to vegetation, and permeation of contaminants into potable water supply pipes. Additionally, we provide waste classification in accordance with current regulatory frameworks

Geotechnical Investigation and Assessment

We undertake geotechnical investigations and assessments, encompassing detailed ground profile assessment, soil and rock sampling, in-situ testing, laboratory geotechnical testing, groundwater monitoring and assessment, and comprehensive geotechnical reporting. Our data-driven approach supports critical design and construction decisions, ensuring safe and cost-effective engineering solutions from foundation recommendation to earthworks design which is tailored to site-specific conditions.

Mineral legacy Assessment and Remediation

Our assessment evaluates mining related stability risk by examining past mining activities to identify risks including land subsidence and soil/rock instability. We review historical records, geological data, mine plans and mining methods, often combined with intrusive investigations. Should a stability risk be identified, remedial recommendations may include remedial works, such as consolidation of workings, ensuring safety for future development. Services also cover environmental assessments, addressing issues like mine gas and mine water.

Remediation Strategy and Design

Environmental Remediation and Verification – Our environmental remediation services include site characterisation, contaminant profiling, and the design of tailored remedial solutions, all set out in a Remediation Method Statement (RMS). Remedial options vary depending on the site and may include, but are not limited to, soil remediation, removal of contaminated materials, environmental capping, and gas preclusion measures. We provide bespoke solutions that meet the needs of both our clients and regulatory bodies.
